Charlotte de Witte
Charlotte de Witte is a Belgian techno DJ and producer known for her dark, driving beats and meteoric rise from the underground club scene to mainstage stardom. Since emerging in the 2010s, she has become one of techno’s most influential figures, celebrated for her uncompromising sound and trailblazing achievements.
Early Life and Breakthrough
In 2010, at just 17, Charlotte began DJing under the alias “Raving George,” a name she adopted to sidestep prejudice in the male-dominated DJ scene . She quickly made her mark on the local circuit with high-energy sets, and in 2011 won a national DJ contest that earned her a spot at Tomorrowland – a huge break for the young artist. She continued to gain momentum over the next few years, and in 2015 the single “You’re Mine” (featuring Belgian artist Oscar and the Wolf) became a hit in her home country , introducing her hard-driving style to a wider audience. By late 2015, she shed the Raving George moniker and began releasing music under her real name, marking a shift to a darker, more relentless techno sound with the Weltschmerz EP . As her reputation grew, she landed a residency at Brussels’ famed Fuse club and played at major European festivals. In 2019, she founded her own label, KNTXT, to amplify her vision for techno (after initially launching KNTXT as a party and radio show in 2015) .
